VOLTA BRASSERIE SAN FRANCISCO
Stunning imagery from the recently completed Volta brasserie in San Francisco designed by CSS Architecture and featuring the Gubi stool and Gubi Beetle chair. A modern brasserie situated in a spectacular space with a double volume ceiling. Volta emanates clean sophistication with luxurious bespoke fabrics and finishes.

CCS Architecture has partnered again with Umberto Gibin and Staffan Terje to design their 3rd restaurant, Volta, in space on Mission Street at the Westfield San Francisco Centre. Having previously worked on Perbacco and Barbacco, both influenced by the regional cuisine of Umberto’s native Northern Italy, Volta is a departure that will incorporate influences from Staffan’s native country of Sweden into a contemporary French cuisine.
Volta will offer a modern European brasserie experience with crafted materials and sophisticated lines. The restaurant is flanked by high windows and a soaring wood plank ribbon wall that wraps the mezzanine level dining and links it to the bar and main dining area below. Tall illuminated back bar display against the storefront glass providing intrigue and a beacon to the street. Continuous millwork display shelving faces the kitchen. Seating is sectioned into 3 distinct areas defined by low walls of wood panels, metal and glass, with banquettes and unique seating types to create a variety of experiences.
The composition of the materials is a mix of traditional brasserie elements like patterned tile flooring, art glass, and brass accents. These materials are played against warm modern materials like gray French oak, bronze mirror and blackened steel. The custom angled bar counter and monolithically formed die wall is made from custom cast concrete. Large hanging pendants with precise geometric lines fill the space, alongside richly patterned hex concrete tiles to round out the experience. The overall mix of elements creates a sophisticated modern brasserie soon to be San Francisco’s newest restaurant destination.
