Artist, technician, photographer, designer, and video artist, Arik Levy’s talents are multidisciplinary, with his work showcased in prestigious galleries and museums worldwide.
Levy is best known publicly for his sculptures, particularly his iconic Rock pieces, as well as his installations, limited editions, and design work. However, he believes, “The world is about people, not objects.” Originally from Israel, he moved to Europe after his first group sculpture exhibition in Tel Aviv in 1988, and he now works from his studio in Paris.
Levy’s journey has been unconventional; his time in Israel was split between surfing and running an art and graphic design studio. After studying at Art Center Europe in Switzerland, he earned a distinction in Industrial Design in 1991. Following a period in Japan, where he refined his concepts through products and exhibition pieces, Levy returned to Europe and brought his artistry to contemporary dance and opera through set design. Founding his own firm allowed him to return to his first love—art and industrial design—while expanding into other fields of his expertise.
Renowned globally for his furniture and lighting designs, Levy also creates high-tech clothing lines and accessories for companies in the Far East. Now identifying more as a “feeling” artist, he continues to make substantial contributions to both interior and exterior spaces, including public sculptures and adaptable environments for versatile use. As Levy says, “Life is a system of signs and symbols, where nothing is quite as it seems.”
