Antti Kotilainen

Design Office Antti Kotilainen was founded in 1997 in Helsinki. Specializing in furniture design, the studio also offers product design and complete visual concepts, spanning from graphic to spatial design. Kotilainen’s work is characterized by organic functionalism, designed to meet contemporary standards. His approach is driven by a desire to refine technical and manufacturing details, transforming them into an aesthetic that enhances the final product. He aims to create designs that appear as effortless as they are essential.

In the best Scandinavian tradition, Kotilainen has continuously explored new methods of working with wood across many of his furniture designs. Since 1993, he has collaborated with numerous Scandinavian furniture manufacturers, including Martela and Piroinen, as well as Knoll in the United States and Arper in Italy. His furniture has gained wide recognition and has been featured in several Finnish and international exhibitions. Kotilainen’s pieces are also used to furnish public spaces in companies, universities, and cultural sites across Europe, the U.S., Australia, and Japan.
