Noboru Nakamura was born in 1938. He began his career by winning awards in design competitions, which led him to Sweden to study design. From 1972 to 1978, he worked as a design staff member at IKEA, where he created several notable pieces. He also designed the enduring Lavender chair and Tack easy chair for CondeHouse. One of Nakamura’s masterpieces, the IKEA Poäng chair, was honored in 2019 as one of the “100 Great Designs of Modern Times.”
