Breathing New Life into Brutalist Architecture

Originally built in 1972, the library’s Brutalist architecture featured low ceilings and minimal windows, limiting natural light to protect the books inside. However, after 50 years, this iconic building—one of Australia’s largest library structures—required a significant overhaul to meet modern industry standards and sustainability goals.

Modern Design Meets Functionality in Study Spaces

The redesigned TL Robertson Library now offers a dynamic range of study spaces, accommodating over 3,000 people across its seven levels. Among its updated features, you’ll find the RBM Noor chairs throughout the library.

The RBM Noor Sled combines a slim, sturdy profile with a modern twist on classic Scandinavian design. Ideal for vibrant settings like educational institutions, these chairs are both stylish and durable, able to withstand the rigors of heavy use while maintaining their robust character.
